For the first time, the five sunshield layers of NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope were unfolded and separated; unveiling important insights for the engineers and technicians as to how the deployment will take place when the telescope launches into space.

Gaia Space Telescope hit by micrometeoroids

Scientists working with the European Space Agency’s Gaia Space Telescope have found that the spacecraft is being hit by micrometeoroids. The tiny specks of space dust were anticipated, however the telescope is being pelted with far more space debris than expected.

This is the massive sunshield that will protect NASA’s upcoming James Webb Space Telescope when in orbit, and it has just passed its first major test.

NASA have created a short, but informative video, describing the features of the James Webb Space Telescope, NASA’s next-generation space telescope.The video is narrated by popular film and television voice actor, Peter Cullen, who is famously known for voicing Optimus Prime in the recent Transformers films.
