Expedition 38/39 astronauts talk about life on the ISS

International Space Station Expedition 38/39 Commander Koichi Wakata and Flight Engineer Rick Mastracchio have recently returned from their 6-month mission on the station and have spoken to NASA about their amazing experience in space.

This spectacular photo was taken on March 25th 2014 by Rick Mastracchio, a NASA astronaut, who was on board the International Space Station.

The bright light is a rocket, launching Expedition 39/40 crew members, NASA astronaut Steve Swanson and Roscosmo cosmonauts Alexander Skvortsov and Oleg Artemyev to the ISS

Safely inside their Soyuz TMA-12M spacecraft, this picture shows the crew just seconds after lift-off from Baikonur, Kazakhstan.

After a delayed rendezvous docking, Swanson, Skvortsov and Artemyev joined their colleagues on the ISS two days later than expected, but they arrived in good spirits.

3 Astronauts return to Earth after 6 months at International Space Station

After living on the International Space Station for 188 days, astronauts Koichi Wakata, Rick Mastracchio and Mikhail Tyurin returned to Earth on May 14th.
